I just call them as I see them. In one sentence he states that tax cheaters cheat us all. When he is found out to be a tax cheat, he merely says it was a mistake and apologizes...to the committee tasked with his confirmation - not to those of us who actually pay taxes, you know, the ones he cheated.

I have very little respect for Daschle. President Obama now has three strikes against him. This is the third tax cheat he has appointed to his cabinet. Unfortunately, one of these tax cheats now runs the treasury (this doesn't bode well for the next four years). Fortunately, the other two were put in a position to withdraw their names from nomination.

As you stated, for those who respect Daschle, this hurts, but for our pocket books, our freedoms and the Constitution, Daschle's withdrawal is a boon.

Tom Daschle is someone I have tended to respect. Calling him names does not seem like the right -- nor the civil -- thing to do, Micah. Can't you make your point without resorting to such base and vulgar behavior?

Oh, sure, it's perfectly okay for me to call you "wack" and a "spud." (Because, it's true!) But, for you to call him a "hypocrite" is just too much. Please repent, my friend, and please don't make me coerce you into being civil again!

Seriously, as a person of good will, I kind of feel sorry for President Obama and former Senator Daschle. I like them both. But, as a conservative, I feel like Daschle's withdrawing actually may be a blessing for the country.

I think this way because I agree with the president that Daschle may have been the best person to move forward his health care agenda, and I suspect that I would not agree with that agenda. Now, maybe, with a less effective advocate, we may be spared what I fear would have been a very aggressive package -- something you and I would call socialized medicine.

Hopefully health care will be reformed in a manner that protects the freedoms we cherish.
